SEATTLE - Seattle Seahawks fans are depicted as a hysterical hateful mob in a TV ad featuring San Francisco Forty-Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Now some Seahawks fans are calling for a boycott on the product being advertised.
The words "Seattle" and "Seahawks" appear nowhere in the ad for noise-canceling "Beats By Dre" headphones.
But the weather is rainy, the fans are painted blue and green, and the Seattle skyline is visible as a hateful horde heaps abuse on the 'Niners QB.
Maniacal "fans" throw trash at Kaepernick's team bus as it seems to arrive for a game in Seattle. One fan is shown urinating on the bus. Kaepernick placidly tunes out fans while wearing his Beats By Dre headphones.
The ad plays on the notion that Seahawks fans are the loudest in the world, but real-life fans think the behavior shown in the ad is out of character for the polite Northwest.
Fans who viewed the ad on a sports radio website say they won't be buying the popular headphone line. One writes it is a poor business decision to depict "Seattle fans, some of the most technologically knowledgeable fans around, as violent and abusive."
