Postal Service Wants To End Saturday Deliveries

Saturday mail delivery will soon be a thing of the past. The Postal Service says it will stop delivering mail to homes and businesses on Saturdays. ABC's Vic Ratner checked in with KOMO's Rick Van Cise.
In all your coverage of the post office deficits, including the interview with a postal official I heard on your station Wed. night, I didn't hear mention of the law Congress inflicted on the Postal Service to cover retirement benefits for the next 75 years, this from the LA Times:
"In 2006, the GOP Congress passed a bill that required the Postal Service to fully fund future retiree health benefits for the next 75 years and to accomplish this within a 10-year period. Republicans are always insisting that the USPS be run like a good capitalist enterprise, but few, if any, private businesses could bear the burden of funding three-quarters of a century of retired employeesâ medical costs over just one decade."
I have heard this amounts to $7 billion/year, all Congress has to do is to change this law to spread out the payments over a longer period of time if they are serious about maintaining the USPS. Â
I believe this issue should receive more coverage.
