OPENINGS:

The Rhino Room. Patric Gabre-Kidan, Eater tell us,  has just opened The Rhino Room at 11th and Pine. Along with a cool name, The Rhino Room offers single-serving bottles of champagne, lots of canned beer, and an 8-foot plastic rhinoceros.

The Box and Bottle. According to Eater Seattle, The Box and Bottle is moving onto Greenwood Ave, in the former New’s Noodles space. They haven’t announced when they’ll be officially open, but they just passed health inspection.

Villa Escondida. This new family Mexican restaurant in the Broadway Alley is the first foray into the restaurant business for SCCC alum Jose Perez, Capitol Hill Seattle reports. Perez’s mother and brother do all the cooking, and along with traditional Mexican food there is also a dash of American (a la “pancakes de la casa”).

Damn the Weather. Seattle Weekly reports that this amazingly named bar is set to open mid-May, in Pioneer Square. Bryn Lumsden is the man behind the Weather, a bartender at Rob Roy and Vito’s, and an original member of the Fleet Foxes.

Parchment. This new pop-up bakery is going to do just that, at Brimmer and Heeltap in Ballard twice a month. The first pop-up is set for April 6 and is powered by pastry chef Laura Pyles, says the Weekly.

Roaring Bowl. Calling itself an ‘Asian Hot Pot’ restaurant, Roaring Bowl just opened in lower Queen Anne and specializes in Shabu-Shabu cuisine; thinly sliced meats and veggies cooked in stocks and dipping sauces.

Oma Bap. Korean restaurant Oma Bap is moving from it’s Bellevue location to the Central District, citing high rent as their reason for relocation. The restaurant will continue serving Korean fast food like bibimap, but have yet to announce an open date, CHS reports.

Goldberg’s Deli. This popular deli in Bellevue’s Factoria Mall is expanding to a second location in the Convention Center of downtown Seattle, reports KVI radio.

TRANSFORMATIONS

Corretto. Eater Seattle reports that Travis Rosenthal’s café by day, cocktail spot by night project is evolving out of the Panevino space on Capitol Hill. Chef Kelvin Morales of Tango and Rumba will be ironing out the menu, and Patric Gabre-Kidan is in charge of the bar.

BRGR Bar. 27-year-old Dome Burger has morphed into BRGR Bar, a more ‘upscale’ hamburger joint which will also feature kalbi rice bowls and Korean tacos, says Eater Seattle.  

Nuflours. Owners Amanda Bedell and Phebe Rossi are expanding this gluten-free bakery in Capitol Hill, and the Weekly reports that it’s set for a summer re-opening.
