Sending flowers is SO 2012

Can't make it to your best friend's birthday? Your sister's bachelorette party? Mom and Dad's anniversary dinner?

Gratafy, an app founded and based in Seattle in 2012 is a gifting service that lets users (and merchants) send menu items and gift certificates from restaurants and bars as gifts to friends and family (without you needing to be there!)

They work with over 500 restaurants and bars throughout the U.S., and just launched in San Francisco (adding to the Seattle, Los Angeles, and Chicago markets it already exists in). The national rollout will continue in months to come.

Still confused? Here's an example.

Your girlfriend just got a raise at her new job, and is having impromptu drinks with friends to celebrate. You planned on being there, but your boss is keeping you late at work. You feel guilty for not being there for her, and know you will probably hear about it later on.

Wait! You know they're at Staple and Fancy in Ballard.....hop on Gratafy and send her a glass of Valdo Prosecco (along with a text saying congrats and sorry).  Problem solved!

Gratafy is a free app available for download in the App Store and Google Play
