The event started with off Jennifer’s signature “Glow Flow” workout, which is inspired by yoga, dance, functional movement and athletic conditioning. Think of it as a yoga dance party!
Post-workout, Jess put together four looks from Athleta’s Summer 5 collection (which just launched in stores and online) to share. There was a mini fashion show, and afterwards everyone was able to shop the trends.
Being Seattleites, we wear our workout gear to the gym, to run errands, to lunch meetings, and everywhere in between. We practically live in our yoga pants and zip up hoodies, so Athleta has made it easy for women to look fashionable while running around town. Here are the top five trends that were shown in Athleta’s shop, as well as during the fashion show.
Patterns. People can be afraid to mix prints or patterns, especially with workout gear. Tip - try to keep the patterns similar in size, and in the same color family, and you will look fantastic. When you feel good, you exude confidence and look good, so go for it!
Color. A lot of us (myself included) tend to stick to all black when we workout. It’s summer in Seattle, the most beautiful time of the year – break out some color! Athleta currently has their Semi-Annual sale happening and a lot of their apparel is up to 60% off. You can find everything from neon shorts and color-blocked tops, to patterned sports bras and bright yoga mats. It’s been said that if you buy cute workout clothes, you will be more likely to workout – give it a try!
Layering. Here in Seattle, you never know when the weather is going to change. It’s always a good idea to carry a light jacket with you, as it’s perfect to throw on if it gets a bit chilly post-workout, or if you’re running out and about and feel the need to cover up.
Skirts of all lengths. Skorts started coming back into style last summer, but this year the trend is out full force. A skirt in the front, but shorts in the back, this workout piece is extremely versatile for the girly girls. Not just for the tennis player anymore, it’s a cute piece to wear in the morning while working out or to lunch or the beach with your friends. Also, Athleta has a maxi skirt in stores right now that would be a great piece to have in your wardrobe if you like the comfort of yoga pants, but want to look more put together.
Getting Strappy. Start playing around with workout gear by adding some interesting pieces. Athleta’s Inner Piece Bra would look adorable peeking out from underneath a tank top, or they also have sports bras that have strappy, beautiful back detailing. Having your lingerie peek out of your clothing has been a huge trend lately, and now it is moving over to workout apparel. There is nothing to be ashamed about as long as it’s pretty!
If you’re looking for some seriously cute new workout gear (as well as incredible deals), I highly recommend you visit Athleta’s store in University Village to try out some of these trends! After all, you'll most likely be wearing these clothes for more than just your daily workout.
