Next time you book an appointment for a facial, consider asking your esthetician to add in a few treatments to help your skin look its best: ultrasonic exfoliation and an oxygen boost. These are “add-ins” to a facial and do come with a higher price tag, but the results are worth experiencing at least once.
Ultrasonic exfoliation uses a device that emits ultrasonic sound waves at a rate of 28,000 vibrations per second. The base of the device can be customized to provide a specific level of exfoliation and aid in other conditions such as acne. A liquid is used to moisten the skin’s surface then the device’s handheld spatula is pushed along the skin.
The sound waves penetrate the skin at a cellular level and help improve product absorption by the skin. The result is astonishingly smooth skin on a level I had never experienced before with any at-home product. Experiencing this treatment was a game changer in my mind as it has all the benefits of microdermabrasion but without any of the abrasion or pulling and tugging of the skin.
The other add-in is giving skin an oxygen boost, commonly known as the oxygen facial. After the esthetician has cleaned, exfoliated and moisturized the skin, a device is used to literally push a treatment featuring hyaluronic acid and vitamins into the skin giving it a glow and a plumper appearance.
This treatment is commonly used by stars before a big event like this weekend’s Oscars as the results are immediate, filling in fine lines and results last for up to a week depending how well skin is hydrated. All these benefits aside, this treatment leaves my skin feeling super soft and smoother. Not to mention that this is the most relaxing treatment I have ever received, there is something very soothing about the treatment literally being pushed into the skin.
Wondering where you can get such a treatment added to your facial? Several estheticians in Seattle offer these treatments including The Spa at the Four Seasons Seattle.
