Nordstrom is almost always on the cutting edge of fashion, and their recent partnership with jewelry retailer BaubleBar is no different. They too must have seen the trend of huge jewelry pieces hitting the red carpet of late, and known that the general public would want to follow suit.

But this trend can easily turn tacky if done incorrectly. Here are a couple tips from Nordstrom and BaubleBar on how to do chunky necklaces correctly:

Stack 'em. Choose a chunky, clear acrylic necklace and layer statement links across your neckline for an extra edge.

Add a personal touch. If you're fashion conscious, (and since you're reading this you probably are), you'll know that not so long ago all the rage was the dainty, personal necklace. Don't worry! These will always be in style, but you can incorporate them into this trend as well! Layer a chunky chain with your small necklace, and a longer cascading chain to finish it off.

Go big, but stay simple. If you're going to go big (and you should!), make sure you're pairing your necklaces with simpler clothing. A jean jacket, white button up, and solid colors are always safe choices, and draws the attention to your mega jewels.

Double up. Wear multiple bangles in varying styles, but with similar hues (golds, silvers, warm tones, cool tones, etc.) And don't shy away from wearing them on both wrists!

The BaubleBar pop-up shop is in the downtown Seattle and Bellevue Square Nordstrom stores as of now, and prices range from $24 - $68.
