Hope. Courage. Faith. Strength. The key to unlocking second chances lies in the messages inscribed on the pendants of the trending accessory line The Giving Keys.

The rings, bracelets, necklaces and iPhone cases made of repurposed keys have been spotted adorning celebrities like Ryan Gosling and Eva Longoria (we are loving the Never Ending Necklace), but the two-fold meaning behind each unique piece of jewelry is what makes this line so special.

Transition
Based in Los Angeles and founded by actress and singer/songwriter Caitlin Crosby, The Giving Keys helps the homeless transition away from life on the streets. Homeless employees hand stamp the inspirational messages, which adds unique detail and gives the wearer a closer connection to the cause. Each key is essentially helping someone unlock a better life for themselves and their families.

Pay It Forward
The Giving Keys ask that when you purchase an accessory, at some point you give it away to someone who needs the support, encouragement, and strength from the message inscribed on the key. Here’s the really lovely part: customers are sharing their inspiring stories of why they gave their keys away on the company’s website.

The trend sweeping L.A. is now getting exposure in the Seattle area, too. Ederra Lash and Beauty in Fremont is one of the first shops in Washington to sell the line.

“I’ve sold quite a few, and I’m getting a really good response from it,” said Shelby Meyers, owner of Ederra.

Nordstrom is also on board. The Seattle-based retailer is selling the keys online and in select stores including the Bellevue Square, Southcenter, and Alderwood mall locations, according to the website.
