Boots are a Seattle staple. With the constant cloud cover and mist, they keep your feet warm, dry, and stylish. For fall 2014, there are four classic boots everyone needs: the over-the-knee boot, the tall flat riding boot, a cut-out bootie, and some colorful rain boots.
My current favorite boot style is the over-the-knee boot. There is something so elegant yet sexy about them. Plus they are extremely versatile: they dress up jeans for the office, but you can also wear them with a skirt or dress for a more feminine look on nights out. These ones from Dolce Vita are available at Nordstrom, and while they are heeled, the heel is thick and about 3 inches so extremely comfortable and easy to walk in.
If you love the look of tall boots but do not find the over-the-knee boots are your style, check out the tall flat riding boot. A bit more equestrian inspired, these boots are still dressy enough for the office and casual enough for running errands on the weekend. These Cole Haan boots from Nordstrom are cut diagonally on the calf, which makes your leg look longer and leaner.
Another fun boot style this season is the cut-out bootie. These REPORT Signature booties are sexy yet sophisticated. They show a bit of your foot so they’re perfect for date night, but they aren’t a completely open sandal, so they’re still appropriate with the office. If you want, you can also wear these with some tights for the office and take them off for happy hour. These booties would look great with a little black dress, or even a funky printed pencil skirt, as well as classic skinny jeans.
The final boot every Seattleite needs this fall is the rain boot. While it may not rain very much in Seattle in terms of inches, during the fall and winter it is misting pretty regularly and you want to make sure your feet stay dry! These coral boots from Hunter are a great way to add a bit of color to the typical black Seattleite wardrobe (believe me, I’m guilty). Having fun rain boots almost puts you in a happier mood, despite the gloomy weather, so while you think the traditional black rainboot may match more of your wardrobe, give the colored boot a try – you may be surprised!
What are some of your favorite boot styles that you cannot wait to wear this fall?
