Denver and Seattle Art Museums make the ultimate bet

Denver and Seattle Art Museums make the ultimate bet

When you have two great cities full of confidence, pride and great artwork, and both are going to the Super Bowl, there's really only one option. The art museums in both cities need to bet major works of art on the outcome of the game. Low and behold, that's exactly what happened with the Seattle and Denver Art Museums.

So sure of the impending victory over the Broncos on Sunday, SAM has taken up a wager with the Denver Art Museum (insert DAM jokes here). If and when the Hawks win, DAM will have to loan The Broncho Buster, a bronze icon of the West by Frederic Remington to SAM for a three month period of time.

On the slim chance that the Broncos walk away champions, the Seattle Art Museum will be forking up a treasure from SAM’s Asian Art collection, Sound of Waves by Tsuji Kakofor three months as well.

"I'm confident that we will be enjoying Remington's The Broncho Buster at SAM." said SAM's director and CEO Kimerly Rorschach. "We are already making plans to host it here in Seattle so that the 12th Man can see it."

Strong words from Seattle, but DAM's Director Christoph Heinrich seems pretty confident as well.

"We know we won't be busted on Super Bowl Sunday," said Heinrich. "We are looking forward to this cultural exchange and giving the stunning screen a place of honor in our Asian art galleries."

Someone forward this story on to the Hawks themselves. We need to make sure they really know what's at stake here with this game.
