The Benefits of Far Infrared Heat

The Benefits of Far Infrared Heat

There’s nothing like stepping in to the sun and feeling the warmth of its rays on your skin. Sunshine boosts our energy levels and helps keep stress and tension down.   But, with the benefits of sunlight also come harmful UV rays that can damage your skin and even cause cancer. Luckily, there’s away to get all the healthy benefits of natural sunlight, without putting your skin at risk. Far Infrared Heat Therapy is gaining popularity among health experts, but is still somewhat of a mystery to the general public.

What is it?

Infrared radiation, or radiant heat, is a form of energy that heats objects directly. More than half of the energy emitted by the sun is represented by infrared radiation; it’s what you feel on your skin when the sun peeks out from behind a cloud. Using far infrared heat during treatments instead of traditional heating methods means the heat is able to penetrate deeper into your body without hurting your skin.

Who can benefit from it?

Everyone! Health professionals use infrared heat lamps to help ease joint pain and stiffness and increase muscle flexibility. Hospitals make use of infrared heating systems in their maternity and natal units. Just some of the many benefits of infrared heat include: improved oxygen levels and blood circulation, treatment of ear, nose and throat conditions, skin conditions (including cellulite) and weight control. It can also be used as a beauty treatment to help reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and fine lines.

How do I use it?

While there are many infrared products on the market, one of the most beneficial (and most convenient) ways to experience the full effect is to sit in a far infrared sauna. Traditional saunas rely on indirect heat to warm your skin, essentially blowing hot air on you. Infrared saunas use only about 20% of heat to heat the air, while the rest directly heats your body. This warming effect acts as a stimulant for your cardiovascular, immune and lymphatic system, and your body starts to sweat.
Because far infrared rays penetrate the skin deeper than a traditional sauna, additional toxins are pulled and released from the body. The result is a detoxifying and relaxing experience.
