Just a short drive from Seattle, Bellevue is a great staycation destination for those looking for a healthy and relaxing outing, complete with great shopping and food experiences.

Those familiar with the Bellevue Club at Hotel Bellevue will understand why I suggest this spot as a great staycation destination. This place is huge, with over 200,000 square feet of athletic facilities for hotel guests to use during their stay. Use your staycation as a way to encourage healthy habits by taking a yoga, pilates or other fitness class during your stay, enjoy a game of tennis on their courts or just go for a swim in one of their two 25 yard length pools.

For those looking just to relax, take advantage of their two-level whirlpool as well as steam room and sauna in each locker room. Recently, my mom and I had the chance to experience a girls night at the hotel and really enjoyed taking advantage of the whirlpool, sauna and steam room (note to the hotel: perhaps turn down the intensity of the eucalyptus steam room just a smidge - it was a bit overpowering compared to other steam rooms at spas in the area). During the summer months, guests can enjoy the hotel's outdoor pool.

When you stay in Bellevue, here's a few ways to add to your staycation fun:

Love shopping? The hotel's towncar can take you to nearby shopping malls such as Bellevue Square, Lincoln Center and The Bravern.

Brunch-time: Be sure to visit Lot No. 3. Bloody Mary fan? They offer 7 on the menu from brunch bartender Stephanie Festa. Treat your sweet tooth by ordering the malted waffles with seasonal compote, bourbon syrup and whipped cream or their house-made cinnamon roll.

Save some room for lunch: Din Tai Fung offers great eats. Try the house-made dumplings, wonton soup and green beans - delicious! (Sneak a peek at our photo album from their second location in the area.) This place tends to have a wait but will text you when you're table's ready, so head to the Power Play arcade just down the hall and take in some skee ball until your table is ready (check out our photo gallery here!).

Dinner and live music: Koral serves up some unforgettable Ahi Tuna Crudo in a swanky lounge that offers live music Friday and Saturday nights. Slide in during happy hour to save 50% on all wines and small plates.

Garden walk: The Bellevue Botanical Garden is worth a visit, with new gardens and more after a 13-month renovation.

Look up: Suite Restaurant and Lounge provides a unique experience of aerial performances Friday and Saturday nights.

Get an adrenaline rush: Bellevue Zip Tours is now open! Get a peak of Mount Baker from up in the trees before zipping across up to 600 feet, 80 feet up in the air. (Note: separate story and pics coming soon!)

Whatever your activities, Hotel Bellevue, with it's warm decor and artwork by Northwest artists, will welcome you when you're done with your day.
