Drive just 35 miles from Seattle to find yourself surrounded by nature and right next to one of Washington State's most popular attractions: Snoqualmie Falls. Nested just above the spectacular falls is the romantic Salish Lodge and Spa, which offers guest rooms so close to the falls you can even feel the rejuvenating mist from below when you step out onto your patio.
A true getaway from the hustle of daily life, you feel transported to a world away as soon as you step into the lodge itself, with the soft smell of wood and friendly staff. Swing into the gift shop before you leave to pick up some honey made from the 12 hives in the apiary on their property which is made on the property.
The roar of the falls is quite hypnotizing - we stood on our balcony for a while, soaking up the sun, spray and sound before making our way to the spa. A beautifully designed spa area lets in natural light and offers two levels of heated pools to soak in as well as a sauna and steam room, available to all Lodge guests. Splurge and treat yourself to a massage treatment in their award winning spa (which was named "Top 50 Hotel Spas in the US" by Conde Nast Traveler. You can choose a Sodashi treatment that features chemical-free, naturally sourced products or enjoy a "Straight from the Hive" treatment that uses Salish honey in their body scrub. Yum! My massage therapist was incredibly talented, checking in to make sure the pressure level was where I wanted it. One of the best massages I've had in years!
After a light nap in the room, we made our way to the restaurant for an elegant dinner with well paired wines. You can read all about Chef Steven Snook (who has worked at two Gordon Ramsay restaurants before recently coming to Salish Lodge), here. The lodge's second restaurant, a more casual dining environment called "The Attic", offers a cozy atmosphere that fits its name.
Salish Lodge offers an incredibly unique yoga experience as well. They now have a temperature controlled hidden terrace that sits above the falls with incredible views below. I can't think of a better natural setting for these moving meditation classes!
Each room is set up with a two person tub, real fireplace and featherbed - add a bottle of wine and you have everything you need for a romantic night for two. I can't wait to go back and make this a yearly tradition.
