A vibrant hotel has taken roost in downtown Seattle.
Formerly the Red Lion on Fifth Avenue, Motif Seattle (officially unveiled today) brings with it a new design that offers Seattle vacationers (and staycationers) a "hip" place to stay. Doesn't hurt that it's just steps away from some of the best shopping and cultural activities that Seattle has to offer!
The management, who have over 40 other properties across the country, wanted to give their hotel a facelift to make it more appealing to modern travelers. We think they made a wise choice to keep the design elements local by hiring Seattle's own architecture firm Ankrom Moisan.
Local designers will also be stepping in "on an ongoing basis to create distinctive experiences throughout the hotel."
For example? Local designer Jordan Christianson's textiles and amenities can be found throughout the hotel. You might have seen Christianson's other work on RuPaul's Drag Race, on stage at Teatro ZinZanni or in local galleries.
"Seattle is by far one of the most interesting cities in the country," said Motif's general manager Shannon Sheron. "We’re so fortunate to have such a diverse ecosystem of creative, unique and emerging minds in music, arts, fashion and design – all in our very own backyard."
Fun fact: Motif's restaurant, Frolik Restaurant + Cocktails, features Seattle's largest outdoor deck, complete with ping pong tables on the patio and a sleek, hip design that will finally match the look and feel of the hotel it resides in. Frolik was featured in our piece "PNW Restaurants with Great Patios."
"We see Motif Seattle as a home for everything that makes this city so beautiful – and an experience that gives locals and visitors alike a truly authentic yet unrivaled taste of the Emerald City," said Sheron.
