Armstrong's cancer foundation drops his name

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Lance Armstrong's cancer fighting charity has formally dropped him from its name and will officially be known as the Livestrong Foundation.
The move is the latest of several by the charity to separate itself from its founder, who has been stripped of his seven Tour De France titles. The U.S. Anti-doping agency revealed evidence of performance-enhancing drug use by Armstrong and his teammates.
Foundation spokeswoman Katherine McLane said Wednesday the name change was approved by the Texas Secretary of State on Oct. 30. Armstrong had previously stepped-down as chairman of the foundation and last week resigned from its board of directors.
McLane said the charity's supporters recognize its already popular Livestrong brand, which the foundation has used for several years to raise money for cancer survivors programs.

Enough already. This REALLY makes me mad. Lance Armstrong's book and his fight with cancer inspired many, many cancer survivors to keep on fighting, too!  This is a cancer foundation charity, not a bike racing foundation. Give the man back his life's work of supporting cancer survivors! I wouldn't be alive today if I hadn't found inspiration from his books. This is just wrong. - a fellow cancer survivor.
Sheryl Crow made a wise choice of un-hitching her wagon for this loser train...
Holy Cow--HE's the founder!!! His doping had nothing to do with his quest to help people suffering from the worst disease on the planet. His entire sport is doping, so its not like he had a competitive edge. Again, kick him out of cycling, strip him of titles, but jeez, he the founder! Why can't people forgive anymore. I dont even like the guy, but I have a great deal of respect for the work he has done to help fight cancer.
I won't donate to them either because I think they could have shown some respect for the founder without whom they would be nothing. So much for LOYALTY
Lance was the greatest cyclist ever and possibly the best doper ever. Â He should be given a medal for raising a half of billion dollars for cancer research. Â All the organizations dropping him are a bunch of wussies. Â He didn't even do anything illegal.
One charity I will not donate to.
he has overcome bigger obstacles, best of luck to him
I really feel sorry for him.
I for one will never donate to this non-profit. US gathers a bunch of doping competitors, gives them all deals for their testimony and then drops a bomb on Lance for doing the same thing these other people did. Stupid, just Stupid. Even if Lance did dope, the rest of the competition was doing it as well, so he was keeping up with the competition.
Really have to love a world where nothing but another cheater's word can convict you!
