SEATTLE (AP) - Pittsburgh is still undefeated - barely.

Justin Dentmon's runner in the lane as the buzzer sounded was disallowed after a lengthy review, and the 12th-ranked Panthers held off Washington 75-74 on Saturday.

Dentmon took an inbound pass the length of the court and scored as time expired. Initially, it appeared Dentmon's basket came after the sound of the horn. Officials reviewed video for nearly five minutes, with the Washington student section shouting in their ears, but agreed the shot came late.

Levance Fields led the Panthers (9-0) with 20 points, but missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with 5 seconds left, setting up the frantic final moments. DeJuan Blair of the Panthers grabbed the rebound, but was tied up by Washington's Jon Brockman and the Huskies got the ball on the alternating possession.

Trailing 71-65, Washington (4-4) hit three 3-pointers in the final 93 seconds to pull within one. Ryan Appleby, who had 18 points, hit two of the 3s, the second with 6.8 seconds remaining.

Blair added 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Sam Young, Pitt's leading scorer, scored six of his 14 in the final 4 minutes as the Panthers improved to 9-0 for the sixth consecutive season.

After missing Washington's first seven games with a broken right thumb, Appleby didn't lose anything on his deadeye outside shot. He was 6-of-12 from 3-point range, including hitting four in the first half as Washington took a 37-34 lead.

The lead could have been more, but Fields scored the final five points of the half to keep the Panthers close.

Brockman added 17 points and 12 rebounds, but the Huskies lost their second straight and have dropped four of five. All four losses were missed opportunities for Washington to pick up an impressive non-conference win over a quality opponent.

Washington's four losses are to Syracuse, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State and Pittsburgh.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh passed its first test outside their own city limits. The Panthers started 7-0 at home, then went across town to beat Duquesne 73-68 on Wednesday.

Blair scored six straight points midway through the second half and Mike Cook's 3-pointer with 6:23 left gave the Panthers a 65-56 lead. Cook finished with 14 points.

Brockman's tip-in and Quincy Pondexter's deep 3-pointer with 3:23 left got Washington back within 69-65. Young then slammed a powerful baseline dunk and hit a tough left-hander in traffic to keep the Panthers lead at five, before 3s by Pondexter and Appleby gave Washington one final chance.

Washington saw its 31-game non-conference home winning streak end. The Huskies last non-conference home loss was to Gonzaga on Dec. 3, 2003.
