Bedard gets MRI on shoulder

Seattle Mariners' starting pitcher Erik Bedard throws against the Detroit Tigers in the first inning.

SEATTLE (AP) - Injured Seattle starting pitcher Erik Bedard has gotten an MRI of his left shoulder in hopes of discovering the cause of the nagging tightness and soreness the Mariners' lefty is experiencing.

Manager Jim Riggleman says Bedard had the exam on Tuesday. The team didn't immediately have results of the exam.

Bedard has not started since July 4 and went on the disabled list July 10, retroactive to July 5. He briefly threw in the Mariners' batting cage under Safeco Field on Sunday, but didn't feel up to throwing on the field a day later.

Bedard is 6-4 with a 3.67 ERA in 15 starts this season.
