Seahawks put Spencer on injured reserve

By Associated Press

RENTON, Wash. (AP) - The Seahawks have placed starting center Chris Spencer on injured reserve with a back injury.

He's the 11th Seattle player on injured reserve this season.

Coach Mike Holmgren announced Wednesday that Spencer's season is over due to a disk problem in his back.

Converted guard Steve Vallos will start on Sunday against New England.

Spencer's back problems began in training camp, and he missed all but the last preseason game.

Holmgren also says starting left guard Mike Wahle (wall) may end up on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
