NEW YORK - The Mariners' Ichiro Suzuki won his ninth-straight American League Gold Glove award Wednesday, an honor bestowed among the league's best fielders.

He's now just one shy of the franchise record of 10 straight, held by Ken Griffey Jr. Ichiro joins the Angels' Torii Hunter and the Orioles' Adam Jones as outfielders honored. 77

Also in this year's class is Derek Jeter, who has won his fourth Gold Glove at shortstop, joining New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira, Detroit second baseman Placido Polanco, Tampa bay's third baseman Evan Longoria, and Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer.

Mark Buerhle of the Chicago White Sox was honored as best fielding pitcher, the first time he's won the award.
