Washington's Pondexter 'living a dream'
SEATTLE (AP) - Quincy Pondexter says he is "living a dream." Yet he's unfulfilled.
Washington's leading scorer this week joined Oregon State's Gary Payton (1988-89), Arizona's Chris Mills (1992-93), UCLA's Ed O'Bannon (1994-95) and Arizona State's Eddie House (1999-2000) as the only four-time winners of the Pac-10's player of the week award in one season.
All four of those players ultimately won at least a share of the league's player of the year award.
Pondexter averaged 23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds last week while leading the surging Huskies past Arizona and Arizona State.
No Pac-10 player has won five player of the week awards in a season. But Pondexter has bigger goals: winning a second consecutive league title and reaching another NCAA Tournament.
Washington is one game behind California entering Thursday night's showdown in Berkeley, Calif.
