Friend: Chiefs LB, slain girlfriend 'seemed fine'

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A friend of the woman killed by Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher says the couple briefly lived apart last month.
But Brianne York said Sunday that Belcher and his girlfriend, Kasandra M. Perkins, had gotten back together by Thanksgiving.
She said they had argued about "normal couple issues" and Perkins had gone to visit her family in Texas and briefly stayed with her cousin, who is married to Chiefs player Jamaal Charles.
Recently, she said, the couple "seemed fine."
She thought there was a mistake when she learned that Belcher killed Perkins at the couple's home Saturday.
Police said Belcher then drove to Arrowhead Stadium, where he thanked his coach and fatally shot himself.
Belcher and Perkins had a 3-month-old daughter.
Police didn't release any additional information Sunday.

This was most definately a tragic situation. I truly feel for all involved. However for Bob Costas to go on his editorial rant was sickening. The gun was merely an instrument, if a person is intent on killing someone they will. It does not matter if they have a gun, a knife, thier hands, a peice of wood, a brick, a car... and the list goes on and on. Turning this into an anti gun issue... is just wrong. Perhaps a better use of Mr. Costas' air time would have been on the topic of domestic abuse. Â
SO 2 HERE THAT BUT ALL MUST MOVE ON WITH UR SEASON.
Â
What a tragic situation......I sincerely hope that somebody will come forward for that 3 month old child and be a good parent.   This couple's daughter will need help understanding what her father did as she gets older. Â
Â
As I watched the Sunday night football game, I caught the last few seconds of Bob Costas's speech.........I have to say that he is the most clueless individual that I have heard in some time.   This man was set in his mind to kill his girlfriend, it doesnt matter if he had a gun, knife, whatever.   His intention was to kill her and committ suicide.  He had no regard for his daughter's life, none at all.    Im tired of hearing how he was such a good player on the field and a seemingly good person off the field.  What he did was inexcusable............My condolenses to both families and my prayers for the couples daughter that she grow up a well adjusted young lady. Â
And now, thanks to good ol Bob Costas, on Sunday Night Football, broadcast nationwide, this idiot has become fodder for the "anti gun" crowd. "If he hadn't had a gun, they'd both still be alive." Bullsh!t. If he hadn't had a gun, he would have used a knife, or a bow and arrow, or a rock, or his bare hands. When a human is intent on killing someone, the weapon used is usually incidental. So Bob? Keep your agenda OUT of my football. Thanks.
@Wolfen Someone call the whaaaaaaaambulance! Wolfen is crying.Â
@PortSCUM @Wolfen  You again PortSCUM?
@PortSCUM Nice handle... heh heh..  Hey, blaming guns for this crime is like you blaming McDonalds for your kids being fat!  Who's crying now?
Just another POS who thought he would act hard and then realized what he had done and took the easy way out. I know all the anti gun folks will be all aver this, even Bob Costas decided to share his little anti gun rant at halftime of the Sunday night game. Bob couldn't even come up with an orginal thought on this one he just used the lines written by another sports reporter. I know it's real easy to place the blame on a piece of steel but we have to be honest with ourselves here. Anyone who would kill another person for anything other than self defense is a broken person. When you raise a gun, knife, baseball bat or anything else to take another life there is something wrong with you. I feel sorry for the couples child and hope that someone will step up and be a real parent here. I also feel sorry for the victim who was shot. I suppose we will learn more about this in the days to come. As far as Jevon Belcher goes, I couldn't care less. Way to act like a little #^&)! rather than dealing with your problems like a man. Good riddance Jevon.
I really don't want to sound rude but I really don't think there should be anymore story's about this guy killing himself. This was not a glorified thing at all. I understand that he took his girlfriend but we are more focus on the suicide and not how wonderful of a person she was before she was killed. She was a victim and she now gets no justice. Even her death has become about suicide. He was not a victim, but we keep hearing about him and reading about him. We can at least let her memory live on strong, not his.Â
@Just my say Amen and nicely put. Thank you!
