SEATTLE -- The Huskies are taking it slow with injured quarterback Keith Price.

"I'm not going to put him on the field if he's not healthy enough to play," said Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Price was hurt in last Friday's 41-31 loss against UCLA. He played in the first half against the Bruins, but he was in too much pain to take the second half snaps. X-rays on his shoulder were negative that night, and an MRI on Saturday revealed no structural damage. Sarkisian describes it as a "sore shoulder," and it's already getting better.

"I don't count the guy out," Sarkisian said. "The swelling is reducing rapidly. His movement is much better today than it was the last couple days."

With that said, Price won't throw until Thursday. After practice that day, Sarkisian said the Huskies will make a decision on their starting quarterback and move forward.

"{Keith} is going to have to show me Thursday that he's able to make the throws he's capable of making," said Sarkisian.

If Price isn't healthy enough to play, the starting job falls to Cyler Miles. The redshirt freshman has completed 21 of his 32 passes for 250 yards this season. He's thrown three touchdowns and two interceptions.

"He has great athleticism," said Sarkisian. "I think he has more arm strength than people give him credit for."

What Miles can't do with his arm; he can do with his legs. He's carried the ball 14 times this season for 144 yards.

"His legs need to be a factor in the game when he's playing," Sarkisian said. "We need him to run it. That's one of the assets he possesses when he's on the field."

No matter who is playing quarterback, Washington (6-4) is looking to bounce back this weekend against Oregon State (6-4). Kickoff between the Huskies and Beavers is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
