Watch: Wild, buzzer-beating shot goes viral
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - It's going to be tough to beat this buzzer beater just three days into March.
Khalil Edney grabbed a loose ball and made a 55-footer as time expired to give New Rochelle a 61-60 victory over rival Mt. Vernon in a New York sectional final on Sunday.
Video of the shot became an immediate sensation online. Duke guard Seth Curry tweeted "Wow!" to go along with a YouTube link for Edney's heave, and New Rochelle alum Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens also offered his congratulations online.
The sequence started when Edney's inbounds pass was broken up and a Mount Vernon player tried to run out the clock by flipping the ball in the air. Edney then brought it in and let fly for the win.
The shot was initially waved off, but the referees eventually reversed the call.

I thought they got hosed too, but when you watch their official replay further into the video, the official clock does indeed say .1 second left when he got the shot off.  If you go by thet video, the shot definitely counted. Crazy finish no matter who really won.
Awesome ending... but the team got hosed, as the ball was still in the kid's hand when the clock hit 0:00. Â Insane, none the less.
Coaching tip, when you intercept the pass, tuck that ball in with both arms and let them foul you. Â 2 things that the Mt Vernon coach has to tell them, if you get the inbounds pass, stop and hold and if the player you are guarding gets the ball, do not foul!
