Mariners offering fans a 'make good' for opening night problems

SEATTLE -- The Mariners say an opening night software malfunction made for a bad fan experience, so the organization is making up for it by offering a free ticket and a concession stand credit to everyone who attended Friday's game.
The offer is a "make good" for fans who were forced to wait in long lines due to problems with the concession stands at Safeco Field. Team officials say about 400 point-of-sale locations were experiencing problems on opening night. The software provider has reviewed the system and the problem has since been fixed, according to a team news release.
"What happened Friday night was unacceptable and I offer my sincere apology to all of the fans who suffered through the long lines and inconvenience," said Mariners President and COO Chuck Armstrong. "The guest experience on opening night was nowhere close to meeting our standards and we want to make it up to our fans."
As part of the offer, anyone who was at the game can attend -- free of charge -- any of the team's 18 home games in April or May. Ticket holders will also get a $5 TicketPlus credit that can be redeemed at any Safeco Field concession stand.
If you attended the game and haven't received an email with instructions about how to redeem the offer, visit the Mariners website for details.
