Seahawk fans feel like lottery winners for Super Bowl tickets

SEATTLE -- Many Seattle Seahawk Season ticket holders are feeling like they won the lottery Sunday night, because they did.

Immediately after the NFC Championship game, the Seahawks held a lottery for an opportunity for its season ticket holders to buy Super Bowl tickets. Both winners and losers were notified via email or will be notified by express mail delivery later in the week.

All full season ticket holders were automatically eligible for the drawing. The Seahawks say the lottery was observed by a third party auditor and weighted on a variety of factors.

Season ticket holders each got credit for one entry. Season ticket holders also got five additional entries for each continuous year as a season ticket holder.  And finally, 10 additional entries were given to those who've been a season ticket holder since the Seahawks became into being in 1976.

"I was pretty surprised to get the announcement last night," said Charlie Wilson, a season ticket holder since 2005. "It made a night of no sleep even less sleep".

Many of the lucky lottery winners were at the CenturyLink ticket office when the windows opened at 10 a.m. on Monday.

"I got drawn, I couldn't believe it," said Joe Lovett. "I had to read the email three times, it was awesome."

Recipients had the opportunity to buy a pair of tickets at $800 dollars each. Most of the tickets appeared to be in the 300 level upper deck of Meadowlands Stadium, the site of Super Bowl on February 2.

It's still a bargain. A check of upper level seats on Tiqiq.com shows prices beginning at $2,200 each.  Hundred level seats on the resale market have an average starting price of $7,000.

Primesports has been designated as the official Seahawk travel package vendor and does offer travel air and hotel combinations that do include tickets to the Super Bowl.
