Seahawks mainstay Cortez Kennedy joins Hall of Fame

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Cortez Kennedy grew into the game's top defensive tackle during his 11 seasons with Seattle, able to stop the run or rush the quarterback. His excellence got him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Kennedy was inducted Saturday night as part of a six-man group that included four linemen. Kennedy made eight Pro Bowls during his career.
Even though Seattle went 2-14 in 1992 and Kennedy got double-teamed, he was so good that he was chosen the league's best defensive player.
Dermontti Dawson, Chris Doleman, Curtis Martin, Willie Roaf and Jack Butler also were inducted. Kennedy chose Dixie Fraley Keller, the widow of his longtime agent and friend Robert Fraley, to present him. Fraley died in a plane crash in 1999 along with golfer Payne Stewart.
Kennedy was the third overall selection in the 1990 draft by the Seahawks. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 1991. In 1992, he recorded 14 quarterback sacks and received the NFL Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press.
Kennedy retired after the 2000 season. In 167 games with Seattle, he recorded 668 tackles, 58 sacks, and 3 interceptions, according to Wikipedia.
He is generally considered one of the best defensive tackles to ever play the position in the NFL.

Great Job Cortez
I only have 4 things to say, WORD!
Like Walter Jones and Steve Largent, Tex was a Seahawk from start to finish. He's a class act, was a top-notch player in his day, and i'm glad to finally see Tez in Canton!!. Can't wait for it to be Walter's turn to go in.
@DawgFan72 I'm sure it was a typo, but I'm pretty sure you meant Tez.
Maybe not Cortez Kennedy had many nicknames in his career my favorite being TEZ-REX , some shortened it to T-REX and some even shortened it more to TEX the latter being my least favorite.
Great induction speech. You have to see it. On the main page at www.seahawks.com
I remember watching Tez get down on a knee to sign an autograph and chat with a 5 or 6 year old in the parking lot after a game. I am sure he wanted to go home; he was still sweating from the showers, but he took the time to make that boy's day. Classy, Tez!
I sure wish the Seahawks could attract more guys like Cortz to the team. Â
Â
We might be able to make another run at the Super Bowl.
Watched this while I was at the Y today. The part for Dixie was very heartwarming. She proudly displayed her tears and was strong. Good for her.
Congrats Cortez!! You are one of a kind and it's great to see it recognized by the football world at large.Â
love,
a seattle fan :)
my best friend's step-mother makes $65 hourly on the laptop. She has been out of a job for 10 months but last month her pay was $20306 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on this site
