Seahawks sign WR Braylon Edwards

RENTON, Wash. (AP) - The Seahawks have signed veteran wide receiver Braylon Edwards, adding another experienced pass catcher to the training camp competition for the No. 2 receiver spot.
Edwards signed his deal with the Seahawks on Tuesday morning and he was expected to be on the practice field later in the day.
The 29-year-old Edwards played in nine games last season for San Francisco. He caught 15 passes for 181 yards and no touchdowns during an injury-plagued year that saw him get released by the 49ers in December. Two seasons ago with the New York Jets, Edwards had 53 catches for 904 yards and seven touchdowns.
Edwards also had a tryout last week for Miami. The Seahawks are seeking a receiver to start opposite Sidney Rice after releasing Mike Williams earlier in July.

I'd rather have Buress
Really?! Why?
@GeorgeG. Really?! Have you seen our receiving corps? Rice is the only legit starter on the team and he is injured constantly!!! The rest are backups at best or guys with little to no experience. We need some NFL experienced starting caliber players. So what if they are taking a flyer on Edwards and Bryant, if even one pays off it's HUGE!!!! If not you cut 'em and send them packing and you've still got what you had, which aint much. It's a no brainer.
Here is to hoping that our young guys really step up their game with this signing, and/or that Braylon has a repeat of his year in 2010.
Hopefully this works out. I'm still trying to grasp why we decided to release Mike Williams..
@XabuJr He was fat and injured.....bye bye.
@XabuJr Reports showed he came into training camp well over weight. I'm not sure if that is enough to oust a player but it may have been.Â

It makes sense. Carrol has booted player off the team in the past when he thought they weren't giving enough effort on the field. I guess when you don't keep yourself in shape in the off season counts as well.
