SEATTLE (AP) - Isaiah Thomas lived up to his billing tonight as he scored 27 points in his Washington debut as the Huskies ran past Western Washington 105-85 in an exhibition game.
Justin Dentmon scored 18 points and Jon Brockman added 14 points and 18 rebounds for Washington, which is hoping to return to the NCAA tournament after missing it the last two seasons. Michael Duty scored 17 points for Division II Western Washington, which is picked to finish second this season in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Thomas is the teen scoring and passing whiz from Tacoma who was the state Class 4A player of the year as a junior at Curtis High School and once averaged 41.5 points per game in the Washington state tournament. Washington begins its season on Nov. 15 at Portland, and Western Washington opens on Nov. 17 in Bellingham against Cascade College. |
