SEATTLE (AP) - Benny Looper is out after 23 seasons with the Mariners, the latest reshuffling of the Mariners' scouting department under new general manager Jack Zduriencik.

Zduriencik said Wednesday that Seattle's former vice president for player personnel declined a chance to remain with the team as a scout. Looper is relocating to Oklahoma.

He began his Mariners career in 1987 as a part-time scout. He became a team vice president in 2003.

The team also announced Lee Pelekoudas will return to the role of assistant GM he had before becoming the interim replacement for fired GM Bill Bavasi in June. Bob Engle will still be the team's vice president of international operations.

On Tuesday the Mariners named Tony Blengino and Tom McNamara to the baseball operations staff. Both have worked under Zduriencik on the scouting staff of the Milwaukee Brewers.
