M's make two hires to their scouting departmentBy Associated Press
SEATTLE (AP) - The Seattle Mariners announced Monday they have hired 43-year-old Tom McNamara as their director of amateur scouting and 55-year-old Carmen Fusco as director of pro scouting.
The hirings were made by new Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik. McNamara was an area scout for the Mariners from 1994-2000, covering the Northeast. He also played one season in the Mariners farm system, appearing in 50 games for the Bellingham Mariners in 1988. McNamara has 15 years of experience as a full-time scout. In 2008, he worked for the Milwaukee Brewers as that club's East Coast cross checker. Fusco has more than 33 years of professional baseball scouting experience. He has worked in the scouting departments of the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, Montreal Expos, Brewers and New York Mets. He was a member of the Mets scouting department for more than 20 years. Most recently, he has served as a scouting consultant for the Brewers. |
