Mariners agree to terms with Morales, Ryan

SEATTLE (AP) - The Seattle Mariners have agreed to one-year contracts with first baseman Kendrys Morales and shortstop Brendan Ryan to avoid arbitration.
The Mariners acquired Morales in a December trade with the Los Angeles Angels for left-handed pitcher Jason Vargas. Morales batted .273 with 22 home runs and 73 RBIs in 2012.
Morales will make $5,250,000 this season. He made $2,975,000 last season.
Ryan has started 254 of the Mariners' 324 games over the last two seasons at shortstop. In 2012, he batted .194 with 31 RBIs and three home runs.
Ryan will make $3,250,000 this season. He made $1.9 million last season.
The club also exchanged arbitration figures with right-handed pitcher Shawn Kelley. Kelley asked for $1.2 million and was offered $750,000.

News Flash: Mariners owners and management suck. They have been wrong, for so long, that it is time to sell the team to someone else. Someone who gives an eff about the game of baseball, and who can handle having the Sonics as a neighbor without feeling all threatened.Â

Build a winner instead of a whiner, and the fans will come back.
Ryan plays amazing defense but he's gotta get that average up to at least .250. .194 is unacceptable.
I think Kendrys is a good pickup. At least he'll be a decent hitter. I remember when he hit that game winning homerun against us and injured himself at homeplate during his celebration. Hope he can provide the same type of gamewinners for us now, against other teams.
I'm not so sure about signing Brendan Ryan. He seems like a cool guy but his numbers and production on offense leave a lot to desire.
I can't wait to see what Kendrys all about?? Never payed attention to him before but I will be watching him like a Seahawk now.
