RENTON, Wash. (AP) - Matt Hasselbeck is expected to miss his second consecutive preseason game Monday when his Seahawks play at San Diego because of ongoing back stiffness. The Pro Bowl quarterback remains unlikely to play again until Seattle's opener Sept. 7 at Buffalo.
Hasselbeck missed his eighth practice in nine days on Friday. Holmgren said the quarterback likely won't even make the trip Sunday to California. Hasselbeck did feel much better Friday, the coach said.
Hasselbeck felt his back tighten while playing two series of Seattle's preseason opener Aug. 8 at Minnesota.
Holmgren said third-stringer Charlie Frye will start against the Chargers and play most if not the entire game for the second consecutive week. No. 2 quarterback Seneca Wallace is back following a groin strain and will be available in San Diego.
