Seahawks release WR Keary Colbert
By Associated Press
RENTON, Wash. (AP) - The Seattle Seahawks announced today they have released wide receiver Keary Colbert, whom they acquired in a trade with the Denver Broncos for an undisclosed draft choice Sept. 17.
In seven games and four starts with the Seahawks this season, Colbert caught seven passes for 52 yards and one touchdown. He played two games with the Broncos to start the season. Colbert was a second-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2004 NFL draft. At Carolina, he started 42 of 55 games, making 109 catches for 1,424 yards and seven touchdowns. Colbert became expendable in Seattle with the expected return of wide receiver Deion Branch for Sunday's game at Qwest Field against the NFC West-leading Arizona Cardinals. Branch is scheduled to practice tomorrow at Renton. He hasn't played in a game since Week 5, when he bruised his right heel. |
