UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Rookie Chiney Ogwumike scored 18 points to help the Connecticut Sun win their first game of the season with a 71-59 victory over the Seattle Storm on Friday night.

Allison Hightower added 14 points while Kelsey Bone had 13 for the Sun (1-3). Fellow rookie Alyssa Thomas scored 10 points.

Crystal Langhorne scored 15 points to lead the Storm (0-3). She was the only player in double figures for Seattle. Sue Bird finished with 7 points. That's her average so far this season.

Connecticut led the majority of the contest. Camille Little made two free throws early in the third quarter to get Seattle within 58-50. Ogwumike made two free throws on the other end, and Bone turned a layup into a three-point play.

Ogwumike followed with a hook shot to push the Sun ahead 65-52 with over six minutes left.

Seattle couldn't get any closer.

The Storm return to action on Saturday. They square of against Washington at 4pm (PT).
