SEATTLE - Sounders FC stars Clint Dempsey, DeAndre Yedlin and Obafemi Martins have been named to the MLS All-Star Fan XI, giving Seattle the most All-Stars of any team this season.

They will join eight other MLS All-Stars to compete against Bayern Munich on Aug. 8 at the Timbers' home field in Portland. The German soccer club sent 14 of its players to the World Cup in Brazil, more than any other team.

Dempsey and Yedlin represented the United States in their unexpected run out of the World Cup's group stage. All three Sounders were selected to the All-Star Fan XI by winning their respective positions in an online vote by MLS fans.

Yedlin, 21, will make his second MLS All-Star appearance since debuting with the Sounders last season. A native of Seattle and a graduate of O'Dea High School, Yedlin turned heads during the World Cup and is now linked to several trade rumors. The defender has played 1,050 minutes in 12 appearances for the Sounders in 2014.

Dempsey, 31, was an MLS All-Star in 2005 and 2006 when he was with the New England Revolution, and now repeats as a Sounder after joining the club last fall. Despite playing in just 10 games so far this MLS season, Dempsey is tied for fifth in the league with nine goals, including one in Seattle's victory Sunday over Portland. He also scored twice in the World Cup as captain of the U.S. men's national team.

Martins, 29, is making his All-Star debut after joining the Sounders last season. According to the team, he won his place in the All-Star Fan XI by winning a video-game contest in which fans - playing as Martins - scored more goals than any other player in EA Sports' "FIFA 14." In the real world, Martins ranks sixth in the MLS with eight goals and is one of just three players with at least six goals and six assists.

Here are the 11 players selected to the 2014 MLS All-Star team:

Goalkeeper: Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)
Defenders: Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Omar Gonzalez (L.A. Galaxy), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders)
Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)
Forwards: Landon Donovan (L.A. Galaxy), Thierry Henry (New York Red Bulls), Obafemi Martins (Seattle Sounders)
