What is the best way to find out the latest road conditions when I’m away from my TV and computer?By Rachelle Murcia
I understand that you can’t watch me all of the time, so there are some other tools you can use. One, the Washington State Department of Transportation has a drivers information line. It will give you the latest closures and incidents. That number is 5-1-1. If you are out of state, but want to know what’s happening on WA roads, dial 1-800-695-ROAD (7623)
You can also get a free subscription to Twitter. Just go to twitter.com, sign up, and search for WSDOT_traffic and follow them. Then, sign up to have their tweets come as test messages to your phone. (make sure you have a passenger read them or read them when you are stopped J) And, you can follow me too on Twitter @RachelleKOMO. Monday through Friday mornings, I will send out tweets of major problems on our roads. In fact, look for all of the members of the morning team on Twitter for news updates and a peak into the behind the scenes. |
