Are you required to have a litter bag in your car in our state?By Rachelle MurciaNo. You are not. Back in 2003, lawmakers repealed the law and many police officers were happy about that. The reason being the law was unpopular to enforce. Back then, not having a litter bag in your car was a misdemeanor. That meant the offender had to go to court for an appearance. It wasn’t just a ticket for a violation. And the officers felt if a driver wasn’t littering, then they met the intent of the law whether or not they had a bag in their car. So, instead, the Legislature increased the litter fines and repealed the litter bag law.
