It's all about getting to the turkey as quickly as possible. DOT has posted past years data for that commute on this link:

I had a look for you and found that the best time to travel to Portland is later tonight (after 9pm) or early tomorrow morning (before 9am). You'll want to avoid driving on that route anytime you see red because that refers to stop and go traffic, the yellow is moderately heavy traffic.

Sunday should be the best day to come home. If you travel in the evening (after 6pm) on Thursday through Saturday you should also be fine.
