Crikey - What Are You Saying?

Every now and then I forget what country I am in and sometimes fall back into my old speaking habits that I used in Australia. Never fear, I have some translation help here:

Throw another shrimp on the barbie = take your time to leave the house, the commute is quicker than usual

Crikey = Check out this incident that just happened

Hop like a wallaby = Quick get your keys and head out the door

Pack the kangaroo in the boot = Take a kangaroo in your trunk so you can jump over to another route (i.e. take a detour)

Chock-a-block = Bumper to bumper

Like vegemite on a breaky sandy = Like vegemite on a breakfast sandwich = totally full with cars

Jimmy Jam = An accident causing one lane to be blocked

Jimmy Jam Jam = Two lanes blocked

Jimmy Jam Jam Jam = Not good for your commute, I'd take an alternate

Back like a boomerang = I'll be back in 10 minutes with another traffic update

Righteo maties = That's it for now

Have a burl = Have a great time on your commute today

Bob's your uncle = You've made it to your destination

Blokes and Sheilas = Male and female drivers

Stay tuned, who knows what other sayings will pop out of my mouth on air. I'll be sure to add them to this list!
