SEATTLE -- If you see a stationary vehicle with flashing lights on your commute, Washington State Patrol says move over.

It's all about saving lives.

In a 10-year period from 1997, more than 150 officers nationwide have been killed when hit by a passing car or truck.

"Talk about a deadliest jobs," says Trooper Keith Leary. "I think this is one of the deadliest you can have."

Everyone pulled over during Leary's patrol said they didn't know moving isn't just a choice.

"I did not know that was a law," explained Stacey Wentz, a driver who was happy to be educated. "I do understand why."

Moving left or away from the stationary vehicle is required by law but troopers tell us they will focus mainly on education, not enforcing the law.
