SEATTLE - If you were around here 10 years ago today, I'll bet it was a day you spent searching for whatever air conditioned places you could find.

Today marks the 10-year anniversary of the hottest day ever recorded in Seattle, when the temperature reached 100 degrees on July 20, 1994.

Statewide, the record high temperature is 118, set most recently at Ice Harbor Dam on Aug. 5, 1961.

In the U.S., the hottest temperature ever was at Greenland Ranch in California (in Death Valley), where it hit 134 on July 10, 1913.

The world record is 136 degrees set at El Azizia, Libya on Sept. 13, 1922. Can you imagine a time where the temperature "cools" off 35 degrees and it's still over 100?
