Seattle breaks two all-time heat records Monday

It's not as gaudy as hitting 103 last year, but Seattle just set two all-time heat records on Monday as the temperature soared to 91 degrees.

Coming off Saturday's 95 degree day and Sunday's 96 degree day, it makes a three-day streak at 90 degrees or hotter.  It's our second such streak this year, as we also went 90, 95, and 93 from July 7-9.

Seattle has never before featured a summer that had two separate 90+ streaks of three days or longer.

Monday's 91 degree reading also, obviously, marks the sixth time we've reached 90 degrees this year. We matched that feat in 2008, and had 7 days over 90 in 2009.  This marks the first time Seattle has had three consecutive summers with 6 or more days at 90 or hotter.  Seattle averages just under 3 days above 90 per year.
