I said this in my last blog, but I'll say it again: "So much for an El Nino autumn"

All this rain in the lowlands has luckily translated to a whole lot of snow in the mountains.

But nowhere more than Mt. Baker, which is claiming that they have the most snow in N. America right now with 160" of snow this season through Thursday -- 80" of it in the past seven days, and that's not counting the 6" or so new they've had Friday morning.

They also said on their site that their snow base Thursday of 99 inches was the most for December 6 since their epic World Record Snow year of 1998-99 when they got 1,140 inches of snow for the season. A check of their current snow gauge showed they were up to 103" by midday Friday (some snow settles as it falls, thus why 99+6="103").

Even the lower passes were hammered Friday with 14" at Snoqualmie and 21" at Stevens Pass.

Long range pattern remains favorable for occasional mountain snow this weekend and upcoming week. It's an early Christmas present for skiers who I'm sure were a bit nervous going into the autumn what kind of ski season it was going to be.
