Washington, U.S. have cool April, but globally it's still hot

NOAA announced Thursday that this past April was the coldest April in the past 11 years for the lower 48 states.  The average April temp, 51, was a full degree below the 20th century mean and 29th coolest April yet. (For those who find warm weather the glass half full, it was the 86th warmest)

Washington state recorded their second-coldest April on record, while Oregon was fifth-coolest.

However, it was not the case across the rest of the planet. Globally speaking, it was still the 13th warmest April on record.
