3 weeks of Seattle rain = 3 hours of Atlanta rain

I was amazed to see that through Tuesday afternoon, Seattle had only accumulated 1.07" of rain in February, despite the fact that it's been a regularly gray month. Turns out, my eyes did not deceive me: Counting trace amount of rain, it has rained on 21 of the 26 days of the month in Seattle.
That's made possible by the fact that only one of those rainy days has had more than 0.15" of rain -- Feb. 22's 0.37". At least 13 of the days with measurable rain were less than 0.10" with Tuesday still pending as a front was moving in during the late evening.
So, three weeks of rain for barely an inch.
On the other hand, a thunderstorm that moved through Atlanta Tuesday morning had decidedly different results: 1.02" of rain in 3 hours and 26 minutes. So take that storm, sprinkle it out over three weeks, and that's your Seattle February in a nutshell.
Incidentally, Atlanta has had four days alone in February that has had more rain in that day that we've had all month.
wait for summer... and quit with the rain panic... Yeah... winter is rain here... big surprise. Summer however is typically much drier than many areas of the US. Look up the stats and learn.Â
Ah... the secret of the Puget Sound real estate agents and visitor's bureaus. Â They say that Seattle gets less rain than Miami or several other places. What they don't tell you is that their rain arrives in a normal fashion, over a period of hours. Seattle? The rain is delivered drip by drip, over a period of 9 months. Â I have met so many people that have packed up and moved away when they realized that the rain and gray lasts from October through June here. Â Forget ever having a dry Halloween, or a dry June.Â
Missing a point. Â One week of Seattle CLOUDS, equals eight weeks or so of Atlanta's. Â Gray, gray, gray every day. Â Only place in the USA where "sunbreaks" is a weather term
@masterofnone I never understood the 'sunbreaks' until I moved here. Literally, you rush outside when the sun peeks through the clouds for five minutes.Â
i thought this february was perfection. morning showers and afternoon sunbreaks with mild weather. i even went to the beach a few weeks ago when it was sunny and almost 60
@bestcoast88Â This winter is an anomaly. This happens every 10 years or so. Â Happy to have a somewhat decent winter, but it's a rare occurrence.Â
Rather have it in bunches not a little everyday!!!
