Weekly time waster: What's the weather in space?
We spend a lot of time dealing with the weather right above our heads. But there's a great site out there that helps deal with the 'weather' at much higher altitudes. Spaceweather.com is a fantastic source of all things solar or astronomically related.

It's even got a current picture of the sun, just in case it's been a while since you've seen it out your window this time of year.

Some of the sites biggest highlights include: A current snapshot of any sunspots, the current status of any solar flares or storms, how likely the Northern Lights are and how far south they might stretch, and what solar activity is expected to do in the near future.

The site also highlights some topical astronomy events, and has one of the best galleries for Northern Lights photos around.
