Move over April 20, 1993, there's a new sheriff in town.
With a late surge in the evening, Seattle did manage to break their record high for Monday with a 74 degree reading, topping the 73 degree record from 1993. Usually we get a preliminary high temperature report at 5 p.m., and then the official reading comes out a midnight. The 5 p.m. was 72 degrees, but apparently we spiked to 74 degrees at 5:15 p.m.
The National Weather Service checked around 6:30 and saw the record was broken and put out a statement to that fact --- two minutes after I walked out the door to go home. D'oh! Anyway, yes, Seattle did break their record on Monday.
