Sure, the Olympic Mountains boast Hurricane Ridge, where it indeed can be windy when storms are blowing through. But Crown Point along the Columbia River Gorge might have had it beat last week.
Winds gusted as high as 101 mph on Friday, with sustained winds reported around 60-70 mph at times.
So what to do when the winds are raging at Category 2 hurricane strength? Why, drive there and take a peek for yourself? (Or, as one poor KGW-TV reporter found, get blown over while trying to report on the incredible wind speed.)
