How stormy was it Sunday night?
Waves crash into the shore along West Seattle's Beach Drive on Monday, March 29, 2010.

March goes out like a lamb? I'd hate to meet the 2010 version...

Here are some of the statistics from the storm that hit Sunday night into Monday, for those that like to keep track of this stuff.

Peak Winds since midnight Monday morning:

  • Astoria, OR: 66 mph
  • Oak Harbor: 61 mph
  • Hoquiam: 60 mph
  • Bellingham: 57 mph
  • Pt. Wilson (Nr. Port Townsend): 55 mph
  • Friday Harbor: 51 mph
  • Alki Beach: 46 mph
  • Forks: 45 mph
  • Olympia: 41 mph
  • Everett: 40 mph
  • Shelton: 39 mph
  • Bremerton: 38 mph
  • Tacoma: 36 mph
  • Seattle: 32 mph

Some interesting rainfall totals: Seattle had two separate hours where 0.20" of rain fell, while Olympia and Tacoma each had an hour where 0.24" fell.  That's just as much as fell in all of June and July combined in Seattle (0.24").

Paradise Ranger Station reported 19" of snow between Sunday afternoon and midday Monday, while Mt. Baker had 13" (through 8 a.m.) and Stevens Pass had 8".
