"May Not" -- A poem about our rainy month
Reader Carol Smith has sent in a nice poem that just about sums up our rather cool and rainy May so far. Enjoy! May Not
Written by: Carol Smith

Hey May what gives, are you not well
Or did you oversleep, pray tell
For when I step outside my door
It feels like wintertime once more

Did March agree to take your place
For I see what looks like her face
In all the grey and cloudy skies
Reflected in your stormy eyes

My lilacs lack their usual bloom
Which I assume will not resume
Until next year when maybe then
You’ll seem to be yourself again

These peonies that once did please
With ease rain has brought to their knees
And now they hang each noble head
Amongst the lowly weeds instead

So May if you are sick, take care
But if contagious be aware
Although concerned, we’d just as soon
You stayed the Hell away from June!
